Chapter 1: Yuichi’s Origin
One of the hidden cities of Japan 10 years ago
“THAT THING IS HERE… HOW?!” a female rabbit yokai screamed at the top of her lungs. In one hand, she held a dual-bladed scythe. Beside her, a young male rabbit yokai held a young dinosaur-like pet in his arms.
“I don’t know, I thought it wouldn’t have access to the hidden cities of Japan…” As Miyamoto Usagi said this, the sound of an electric-like sensation could be heard from behind them.
A group of yokai turned around, including a muscular bear yokai and an elegant bird yokai, who were sweating profusely. “We will hold him off. You are the only ones capable of defeating him. Go to the church. There, your wife’s sister will have met up with mystic warriors to guide you further.”
Miyamoto nodded. He and his family ran into the forest, the young rabbit boy screaming at the group, trying to run back to them. “SENSEIS!”
“NO, YUICHI, WE MUST GO,” Miyamoto Usagi yelled firmly, still running with his katana in hand, its blade embedded in bright blue flames.
As they ran through the forest, a massive explosion of electricity, in combination with flames reaching all throughout the forest, ensued. Yuichi looked behind him, seeing purple-like lightning everywhere at the entrance. Out of shock, the running rabbit let his pet dinosaur go…
“SPOT!” Yuichi cried out, with his mother immediately throwing her weapon over to her husband and picking the boy up over her shoulder. The church was so close, they could see the door. Then Yuichi, who was looking the other way while they were running, saw him.
In the distance, in the burning forest, there was the silhouette of a human. It was a man wearing a black blouse and a white shirt, with a glowing purple dot on the upper left side of his face.
He rushed towards the family with incredible speed. Every second mattered…
Another female rabbit yokai immediately opened the door, and the moment the family got in, the acolytes sealed the entrance with a spell. In the church, there was a circle on the floor, meant to teleport them to safety.
Or so they hoped…
As the ritual started, the family and the wife’s sister stood in the circle, and an acolyte began performing some kind of spell. Then, suddenly, the door to the church was almost rammed through.
Everyone was shivering and sweating. They couldn’t believe how fast he was. Yuichi said nothing. He completely shut down mentally from all the panic he was experiencing.
“WE WON’T MAKE IT. WE NEED MORE TIME,” Yuichi’s aunt screamed.
As the door was being broken through, Yuichi’s parents looked at each other and nodded.
Then, they knelt to Yuichi, who was too young to understand what was about to happen.
The mom spoke, trying desperately to look strong for her son. “Yuichi, whatever happens from here, know this: we have always loved you, and you deserved so much better from us.”
“Mom… Dad…?” Yuichi’s lips trembled, causing Miyamoto to almost not be able to speak or look his little boy in the eyes, his own eyes watering. Still… he had to say something.
“Live for us, Yuichi…”
There was total silence, except for the breaking of the door.
“Keep running. You are fast, strong, agile. We are so proud of you.”
As the mother said this, she put an arm around Yuichi for the last time, the other still holding her weapon. The ritual was almost complete.
Yuichi’s parents left the circle… and faced the door. His mother split her weapon in half, causing her to have two scythes instead. Their son gasped, realizing what they were about to do.
Then the door burst open, and there he was. The two rabbit yokai were already in fighting stances.

After three seconds of eye contact with the man, with massive amounts of purple lightning still around him, Miyamoto and his wife attacked.
Yuichi bawled his eyes out, subconsciously knowing what the result would be…
Immediately, Yuichi’s aunt grabbed him and held the rabbit firmly in her arms, crying on the young boy’s shoulder as well.
As they were teleported away, they saw their remaining family members jump at the man… as a massive explosion ensued, purple lightning everywhere.
Yuichi and his aunt woke up in a field somewhere, their faces still wet from all the tears. “We are finally safe, Yuichi. No more running…”
Yuichi just looked at the sky, hoping she was right. He secretly thought: “Are we?”
